Imagine that artists from Munich take you to their personal favourite spots in town and tell you their personal story that connects them with these places. You can watch videos of them performing there and discover their art in connection with the city.
Plus I provide the historic background about the city and the places you’re about to visit in real life or online.
The Idea
The idea for this project came to me when I did 30 performances at 30 different locations on 30 consecutive days last year. I learned that people actually like it a lot when someone connects them with my city on a personal, emotional and artistic level. The reactions from people were overwhelmingly positive. So I decided to take it a step further and include both artists from Munich and you, the visitor, fan, audience, art lover to build a tour guide based on art.
I want this project to become a community for artists and you, the traveller and explorer. I want you to experience the city in a way that is usually not available in the traditional travel guides.
What form this community will take on I’m not sure yet. It could be an app, a website, a ning community, blog, youtube channel and more. It yould be all those things. This will become obvious once I start executing.
So right now I’m busy planning the project, plotting ideas, talking to people, writing this blog for you, thinking about how to bring all of you together. I want this for you to be a service that will guide you to the artists favourite spots and also provide all the details about the artist, location, city, and what makes these locations special. There can be videos, audio guides, and even live interactions and events on location. So many ideas!
The arts are a perfect guide to discover a city
And because the arts are an ever changing medium, the city and it’s artists change with it. Or maybe the artists change and develop new ideas, and so the city changes according to that.
I want you, artists and creators, to participate in the making of this tour guide. Plus I want you, visitor, to be part of the building process as well. I want you to be able to take part in a change of how we discover cities and how we experience them.
As I said, the project is in its initial stages, so as I’m writing this blog, I’m starting to build it. That’s where you come in. You can join in on the creative process of the build of what I want to become a true community effort to bring Urban Outdoor Sessions to life.
